Voice Stress Analyzer
Voice Stress Analyzer
The VSA™ Gen3 is more than a Lie Detector, operating as a voice stress analyzer. Used for interviews and interrogations, the VSA™ indicates voice stress levels in a person's voice. Lie detection is relied upon by both Law Enforcement and corporate groups, including insurance agencies, risk assessment groups, and other organizations who need quick intelligence if someone is lying.
VSA™ technology measures the human voice and gives the interviewer an indication if a subject is telling the truth or not.
Question: If Lie Detectors are generally not favored by courtrooms, are they still reliable?
Answer: Our VSA™ is able to provide strong indicators of deception, valid enough to act on at an airport security counter when questioning travelers to determine if they are possible terrorists. Our VSA™ is able to give an advantage over the stress of lie detectors such as the polygraph, a former forensic measurement technology that courtrooms throughout the world regard as questionable. When our VSA™ was first introduced in 1979 (VSA™ Mark IX), it was accepted by Law Enforcement users, Insurance and Auditing organizations (Workman's Comp), and private investigators throughout America.
The VSA™ Gen3 enables the user to interview subjects and analyze voice stress levels. This analyzer yields numerical values to indicate truth or deception of the subject. Testing can be done using live or recorded testimony. With recorded testing, the administrator would playback the test results and analyze the answers for stress levels. In this manner, the administrator may conduct interviews in a more neutral atmosphere, affording an effective way to obtain relaxed interviews. The administrator may also archive all data and evidence whenever accurate lie detection is necessary for future review.
How it works: The Voice Stress Analyzer measures sub-audible micro-tremors in a person's voice. Unlike a polygraph, there are no wires to attach, no graphs to chart. The VSA™ operator asks a series of questions, establishes a base line for what the system interprets as truthful voice levels as well as false or deceptive voice levels, and assigns a numeric value to the answers of those interviewed. The higher the number, the less truthful the response.
Question: How well does the VSA™ perform? Answer: It performs well only if the interviewer has had VSA™ training. When an interviewer is able to synchronize the answers of a subject with the system's analytical processor, the results are impressive.
Question: How can a subject under investigation "beat" the VSA™? Answer: Subjects who have taken narcotics have been known to produce poor test results, causing the VSA™ operator to conduct multiple tests. In the industries of both Law Enforcement and Workplace Insurance, trained VSA™ users who administer voice stress tests are usually able to determine by behavior and visual indication if someone is high on drugs before or during a voice stress detection examination. However, in circumstances where drugs are suspected, a drug test may be required before employing any type of lie detector involving voice stress analysis.
Question: How does the system indicate true or false answers to a VSA™ interview? Answer: The VSA™ Gen3 offers a clear, precise digital readout with a numerical reading. A printed format may be included with the system in order to document test results for questions that have been properly prepared in advance.
Results are instantaneous, accurate, and thoroughly reliable as an investigative tool. The VSA™ Gen3 can be used in person or on the phone, in real time, and / or archived for future evaluation. The VSA™ Gen3 comes with instructional audio sampling to demonstrate advanced interrogation methods.
Most functions are completely automatic, drastically reducing the number of hours spent on interrogations and interviews. The covert feature of the VSA™ Gen3 enables VSA™ operators to record a conversation and analyze the results on playback without the subject present, provided they give their consent (some countries / provinces require all parties to be made aware they are being recorded for Voice Stress interviews).
